The Ripon Charity Pantomime Group has donated a total of £2,500 to ten organisations after its production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
The cheques were presented by cast members at a ceremony at the Ripon Amateur Operatics Hall to groups including Ripon Club for the Blind, Ripon Walled Garden, Scuba Diving for All, Saving Yorkshire’s Dogs, Ripon Swimming Club, Jollytots, Ripon MIND.
Donations were also made to a group of Guides towards their fund raising efforts for a forthcoming trip to Mexico and to the Hedgehog Appreciation Prickly Pals Yorkshire (HAPPY) – a ‘Hogspital’ run by Jacqui and Pete Morrell who have been actively involved with the production of the Ripon Panto for many years.
A special donation was made to the Dogs Trust in memory of Linda Blades, a longstanding member of the Ripon Charity Pantomime Group cast and committee whose passion and profession involved canine welfare. The committee felt the donation to the Leeds branch of the Dogs Trust was a fitting memorial.
The group’s forthcoming pantomime will be Babes in the Wood incorporating characters from the story of Robin Hood. Auditions will be held at the Ripon Amateur Operatics Hall at 49, Allhallowgate, Ripon on Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14.
