Harrogate Operatic Players is presenting its eighth production of its cabaret-style Serenade show of acts from many big musicals next month.

Serenade will take place at the Sun Pavilion, Cornwall Road, Harrogate from Monday, October 17 to Saturday, October 22, with evening performances at 7.30pm, (tickets £14) and a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm (tickets £12).

Group member Simon Berger said: “The Players are thrilled to be back in the beautiful Sun Pavilion, having last performed there three years ago. Serenade promises a showcase of music for all the family, including songs from Hairspray, Sister Act, The Witches of Eastwick, Anything Goes, Half A Sixpence and Salad Days, as well as numbers from Queen, Elton John and many more.

“This year the show is produced by Tina Davis and it promises to be a musical treat in a cabaret style format as in previous years.

“The previous eight productions of Serenade by the Players have all been sell-out successes and this year four performances have already sold out through advance bookings, but tickets are still available for the Monday, Tuesday and the matinee.”

Player Judith Kenley recently met well-known actor, writer and stand-up comedian Marcus Brigstocke after his performance as Albert Perks in The Railway Children at Waterloo Station Theatre.

As Judith will be performing a duet with Mike Bindon from the musical Spamalot she was delighted to meet Marcus as he has played the part of King Arthur in the play. She said: “I was delighted to chat to Marcus as I saw him play the part of King Arthur in a recent tour of Spamalot – I am looking forward to seeing him again when he resumes the part in the next Spamalot tour later this year.”
