Organisers of a new Dales Festival are urging local professional artists to apply to show their work at the May event.
The Dales Festival of Art, supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and Richmondshire District Council the festival takes place in Leyburn from May 4 - 6.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for local artists to showcase their work to a wide audience,” said Festival organiser, Sue Dewhurst. “Spaces will be limited but we hope to attract a cross section of work.”
Dales artists wanting to exhibit must submit work which will be judged by a panel of local experts – including gallery owners Andy Richardson and AlixWarland, Business Association representative Dawn Clarkson, contemporary Artist Clare Lindley and Pop Up Gallery owner, Sue Dewhurst.
Spaces are available in the Artists Market – to be housed in a marquee sited on the Market Place and in the temporary sculpture park in Thornborough Hall gardens. There are also ten drop in workshop pitches available each day of the festival. These pitches will take place around Leyburn for visitors to try their hand at learning a new skill.
To apply artists should submit three jpeg images of their work, a short biography, and state which day they want to exhibit by March 8 to the Project Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Successful candidates will be notified by mid March.
