The exceptional talents of Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma are one of the highlights of the 22nd Harrogate International Festivals’ Sunday Series which showcases the finest classical music from around the world.
Lamsma, hailed for her technical brilliance and heartfelt musicianship, promises a moving concert on March 1 with American pianist Robert Kulek, performing Schumann’s brooding Sonata in F and Janacek’s intensely emotional Violin Sonata.
The annual series held on Sundays at 11am at the Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate, kicks off on January 25 with the phenomenal Sunwook Kim, the youngest-ever winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition, and closes on April 12 with pianist Federico Colli, another recent winner of the competition.
In between, the Sunday Series boasts many highlights, though it will be hard to top Emma Johnson MBE, “Britain’s favourite clarinettist”, who performs on March 29.
