This year, Aldborough near Boroughbridge is celebrating 50 years of holding May Day festivities in its present format.
For five decades the village has proudly maintained the tradition of May Day and Maypole dancing.
This year’s event, on Sunday, May 10, gets under way at 1pm with a procession around the village.
The procession will be led by a horse and carriage, which will be carrying the forthcoming May Queen – Imogen McMurray, a pupil at Marton Cum Grafton Primary School
The procession will also include this year’s 24 dancers, attendants and invited former May Queens.
Two sets of Maypole dancing will take place during the afternoon and the village fete will have a range refreshments, stalls, games, rides and attractions to entertain the whole family.
