Roman site named a ‘must-see’ attraction

A TOURIST attraction near Boroughbridge has been named one of the UK’s must-see places by a national hotel chain.

English Heritage’s Aldborough Roman Site features in a list unveiled by Premier Inn aimed at highlighting wonderful and surprising places Brits can visit while holidaying at home.

The list was compiled to provide people with alternative attractions not featured on the usual, well-troden tourist trail.

Travel expert James Ellis, who helped compile the list, said: “The UK and Ireland have so many inspirational places to visit. We have history that dates back thousands of years, magnificently picturesque landscapes and wondrous feats of industrial engineering.

“They all combine to make a rich tapestry of places to see in the British Isles that means you don’t have to stick to the tried and tested sights all the time in order to be amazed.”
