it’s time to grab a bucket and spade as Ripon becomes a seaside resort.

The tide may be a long way out but the beach will be open at Ripon’s Spa Park on Saturday, September 3, with free entry.

Ripon-by-the-sea is back for it’s second event having entertained around 3,000 seaside visitors last year.

The beach opens at 11am and there will be plenty of entertainment for all the family.

The National Circus will once again be the feature event. Tickets are already on sale at the Knowledge Magnet in Kirkgate and the Tourist Information Centre, opposite the cathedral. There will be three shows during the day, and tickets will be available on the door.

Punch and Judy shows, a Special Sea-side Story Time Puppet Show featuring ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and ‘Mr Scarecrow’, together with Face Painting, Trampolines, Helter-Skelter, and the fabulous Fun-House will all be at the sea-shore.

And to make it a real day to remember there will be Donkey Rides.

The event is being staged by Ripon Festivals who are providing a specially constructed beach with paddling pools of sea water.

There will be stalls manned by local charities and the Guides will be helping out to raise funds for their Mexican trip later in the year.

Ripon City Band will be performing in the newly refurbished Band Stand between 1pm and 3pm.
