Despite the best efforts of the weather, competitors and organisers enjoyed a great day at the annual Mickley Show.
Torrential rain and strong winds the night before meant organisers were met with a scene of devastation at the showfield early Saturday morning, but show secretary Sally Bailey said everyone rallied round to help.
Marquees swept up by the wind were rescued and tied down to the secretary’s waggon as competitors arrived to take part.
The show’s chosen charity this year is Yorkshire Air Ambulance and organisers hope to make a sizable donation when all the money has been counted.
Sally said they would like to thank field owners Michael and Amanda Abrahams for letting the show go ahead and all the judges, stewards and helpers.
“They were unbelievable and worked jolly hard to ensure a successful show,” she said.
