In time for Armistice Day, Ripon Library will be holding a special illustrated exhibition: The Forgotten Hut – Women’s Role in the Great War.

The exhibition is organised by the Leeds Branch of the Catholic Women’s League of England and Wales and will run from Tuesday, November 11.

Using historical photographs from their archives, it shows the involvement of the former West Riding Branch of the CWL, who staffed the Ripon “Mother Hut” – a canteen for the troops of the Northern and Southern Command Depots, from 1914-1921.

The exhibition is available to view until Saturday, December 20, and will be located in the reference area of the library during its normal opening times. Admission is free.
