Harrogate is preparing to show its pride at being selected as a host town for the 2014 Grand Départ.
The brand set to appear around the district on posters and promotional dressing was this week revealed, along with details of how the town’s International Centre will be decorated.
The brand has been created by Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) to honour the hosting of the start of the Grand Départ. It will also be used by the council on a number of related events it will be holding specifically related to the Tour both before and after this summer.
The brand uses the colour yellow which is synonymous with the race leader’s iconic yellow jersey and the first in this year’s Tour will be presented on Harrogate’s West Park.
The cyclist image will also be shown on promotional material using all the colours of the famous coloured jerseys including the red dotted King of the Mountain.
Councillor Anthony Alton, Leader of HBC said: “We wanted to come up with a brand that could be embraced across the district at all our facilities and all our events.
“This is an unprecedented opportunity for our district.
“The Grand Départ is going to be like nothing we have ever seen before and we want everyone in the district to be part of the excitement as we build up to July.
“I am absolutely amazed at how local communities have taken up the challenge to celebrate the Tour in their own unique way.”
