Struggling Knaresborough golfer John Parry has split with long-time coach Mark Moore.

Parry has suffered a dip in form since the turn of the year, and has failed to make a cut in his last six tournaments on the European Tour.

The 26-year-old was last in action at the Africa Open two weeks ago, but his competition came to an end after he carded +6 over his first two rounds.

He will next take to the course at the Trophee Hassan 11 in Agadir, Morroco on March 13.

Moore, PGA professional at Flaxby Driving Range, started coaching the world number 327 when the ace was just seven-years-old.

He said: “John’s suffered a loss in form and after 20 years of working together, he needed to hear something new.

“For him, it was time for change. Being his coach since he was seven-years-old, it was probably a very difficult decision for him.”

Parry signed for a sports management company MB Partners, run by former Formula One driver Mark Blundell and Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis in January.

Moore dismissed the deal had any impact on Parry’s decision.

“I didn’t talk to him about that but I can’t see a manager saying, you’ve got to switch coach,” he added.

“I accept it. It won’t change anything we have done in the past.”
