The hallowed turf of the Main Arena at the Great Yorkshire Showground was the setting for the HLC Equestrian Team Challenge 2011.
Three dedicated young horse riders from Harrogate Ladies’ College were placed third in one of the county’s established equestrian events, bringing home silverware for the first time in the history of the competition.
The triumphant trio representing HLC comprised Emily Robinson, Olivia Robinson and Maisie Axon. They rode brilliantly and joined five other teams in the final jump off.
Team HLC set a galloping pace resulting in a quick time as the riders ‘jumped clear’. The girls continued to perform brilliantly throughout the challenge and were narrowly beaten by second placed ‘Rydale Radicals’, with ‘Polamites A’ taking first place.
This year’s Equestrian Team Challenge was another successful event organised by Harrogate Ladies’ College.
HLC Headmistress, Rhiannon Wilkinson, who also presented the prizes on the day, said: “We are very proud of the girls for making this the first year that HLC has been placed in the Equestrian Team Challenge.
“The skills and confidence demonstrated by this year’s young riders were exceptional and we look forward to welcoming everyone back .”
