After making his debut at last year’s Isle of Man TT, Knaresborough sidecar racer Doug Chandler is all set to make a return at the event later this month.

Doug is once again providing ballast for Halifax’s Nigel Mayers.

2011 was a massive learning curve for the team, one one of the most demanding road circuits in the world.

A full week of practice saw them getting faster and faster with each session.

Unfortunately during race one they were black-flagged in Ramsey due to a flapping undertray.

After making some running repairs trackside, the marshals’ were happy for them to proceed but the Clerk of the course was not.

Bitterly disappointed but undeterred they set about preparing the machine for the second of two sidecar races.

They finished the second race in 25th position with a race average of 97.46mph and a fastest lap of 99mph.

The TT is the ultimate race for competitors and machines, and also eats away a huge amount of any teams racing budget.

The team unfortunately had some recent expenditure which was not budgeted for.

Competing at Olivers Mount NEAR Scarborough they destroyed their new Suzuki engine, which they were testing in readiness for the TT.

Both Nige and Doug would be interested in hearing from any would-be sponsors keen to see their logo on the outfit during TT fortnight.
