Harrogate returned from their winter break in style last weekend as they thrashed Leeds 6-2, and captain Luke Lambert believes their promotion ambitions will further come under the microscope in Sheffield on Saturday. The Granby-based side travel to Sheffield Bankers (1.45pm push back). Earlier in the season Bankers scored with the final play to escape with a 1-1 draw and sit a place behind Harrogate in fifth. Gate will be without Steve Couture (suspension) for their trip to the Steel City after he picked up his fourth yellow card of the season, while Russ Bowen is injured. Lambert expects to welcome back Stuart Norman.

“We’re looking forward to taking on Bankers on Saturday. We’ve actually got quite a poor record against them, but if we keep our discipline and play to our potential then we have a good chance of returning home with three points and keeping the pressure on those above us,” said Lambert.

Against Leeds Harrogate ensured that the game was all but over after the first 20 minutes with Lambert, Jarek Kulpa and Dave Swarbrick putting the hosts three goals to the good.

Gate went 5-1 ahead with Kulpa and Swarbrick adding to their tallies and the latter completed his hat-trick in the second half.

as the two sides exchanged strikes.

Harrogate’s ladies side entertain University of Leeds at Granby on Saturday (1.30pm push back) after picking up four points last weekend.

On the Saturday they drew 2-2 against Wakefield before beating bottom of the table Wigton on Sunday, a result which moved them up to fifth position in North Division One.
