Out of form golfer John Parry has made a dramatic u-turn and returned to the tutelage of former coach Mark Moore.

Parry has failed to make the cut at his past 12 European Tour events and he retired during the second round of his last competition, the Championship at Laguna National, Singapore.

The Knaresborough ace’s world ranking has dropped from 297 to 411 and he faces a struggle to retain his card for next season.

He stopped working with Flaxby course professional Mark Moore in January after 19 years working together.

But, in a bid to recapture the top form that took him to last year’s US Open, he has re-enlisted the help of his former coach.

Parry will play at the BMW International at Wentworth later this month.

And Moore, who started coaching Parry when the golfer was seven, said he was confident his 27-year-old protégée would turn around his fortunes before the end of the season.

He said: “We parted on amicable terms. I told him the door was always open and that was the case.

“Obviously, John’s golf isn’t at its best at the moment but his attitude is very good.

“Whatever the time frame, he has got his best golf ahead of him not behind him.

“John’s form will turn around quite quickly, but he needs self belief.

“In practice, he’s still very strong. Sometimes to have to reach rock bottom before you can start to pick up.”
