the Bramham Moor Junior Mounted Games team competed at the Pony Club Championships near Nottingham last month and came home national champions.

They were up against the 23 best teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

The team is trained by Diane Brown and consists of Molly Robinson from Newton Kyme, Emilia Proctor from Little Ribston, Amy Hunt from Crossgates, Anna Jessop from Scholes and Molly Beadle from Shadwell.

Aged 10 and 11 years old and have been active members of the Bramham Moor Pony Club for some years.

Having been training weekly since January and competing since March, they won their two qualifying rounds to take a place in the final.

Both they and their ponies, Ralph, Rodney, Toffee, Cameo and Lucky have worked very hard this year under Diane’s guidance.

It was an exciting and very nerve-wracking competition, especially for parents and supporters watching from the side lines.

Going into the last race, the team had a narrow lead but needed to finish no lower than third to be sure of winning.

However they did it in style and took first place on the podium, completewith sashes, rosettes and a large cup.
