After its successful launch earlier this year, weekly sport show The Press Box wants its viewers to join in and celebrate the best sport across the Harrogate district.
Presenters Ed White and Alex Johnston have launched a search for the sportsmen and women who should be recognised for their achievements in 2013.
The inaugural Press Box Awards will be available to watch online next Thursday, December 19. Watch this week’s show on the player above.
However, the pair want to know your thoughts on who deserves top honours, with awards given out for Team of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and Coach of the Year amongst others.
The team competition looks set to be a close-run race. Harrogate Rugby’s promotion from National Three North has earned them a spot on the shortlist, alongside record-breaking Beckwithshaw CC for their Aire-Wharfe triumph.
Bardsey’s West Yorkshire League title and Tadcaster Albion’s 23-match unbeaten streak also made the grade, with Harrogate Hockey’s title winning squad completing the line-up.
John Parry’s excellent season and his 28th-place finish in the US Open saw him make the Sportsperson top five.
Nicola Wilson has also been shortlisted after her fifth-placed finish at the Bramham International Horse Trials.
Knaresborough rugby league star Alex Foster, Ripon diver Jack Laugher and squash player Jenny Duncalf make up the top five.
The top five coaches include: Paul Marshall (Tadcaster Albion), Lee Barraclough (Bardsey), Mike Aspinall (Harrogate Rugby), Billy Miller (Harrogate Railway) and Dave Pearson (Squash).
You can also nominate your winners of the quirky Press Box Sports Awards 2013 categories including: Unsung hero of the year, Best Matchday Experience, Comeback of the Year and Journeyman of the Year.
