Brigg Town 1-3 Tadcaster Albion
Captain Jimmy Beadle showed off a new hairstyle as he bagged a hat-trick in Tadcaster Albion’s long anticipated return to action.
Albion had waited 33 days without a match due to the winter weather but produced a clinical performance to overcome lowly Brigg Town 3-1.
The clean-shaven Beadle was at the centre of the Brewers’ success as he scored three goals in 20 minutes either side of half-time.
Brigg claimed a late consolation when substitute David Dean slotted past Gary Stevens.
Jonathan Greening was handed his first start since returning to Ings Lane over the Christmas period with brother Josh also lining up for Billy Miller’s men.
It took just five minutes for The Brewers to create a serious goalscoring opportunity as Josh Greening played in Beadle in but his effort was off target.
Beadle again fired off target from a Jonathan Greening’s quickly taken corner while Brigg’s Paul Grimes tested Taddy goalkeeper Gary Stevens on 23 minutes from the edge of the box.
From the resulting corner, Jordan Armstrong had to be alert to hook Anthony Bowsley’s shot clear on the post.
Chances continued to arrive and Josh Greening was thwarted by a terrific save by Brigg keeper Jody Barford shortly after defender Gregg Anderson glanced over from close range.
With half-time approaching, the Brewers broke the deadlock. Left-back Dan Clayton whipped in an beauty of a cross that Beadle headed into the top corner expertly.
The home side attacked Taddy from the off in the second half and Matt Heath put in a last ditch tackle to deny Grimes an equaliser.
Substitute Connor Sellars came close to scoring his first for the club with a powerful strike which whistled inches wide of the mark.
But the Brewers did double their lead in the 62nd minute when glanced Jordan Armstrong’s cross into the far corner.
Two minutes later Beadle completed his hat-trick and he certainly saved the best till last, smashinh home a stunning strike from 23 yards which dipped into the far corner.
The home side rallied and did in fact pull a consolation goal back with 10 minutes remaining. Elliott Broughton slotted in substitute David Dean who rolled the ball through Gary Stevens’ legs and into the back of the net.
Into the last 10 minutes and Taddy nearly netted a fourth as Jonathan Greening pulled back to brother Josh but the attacker struck narrowly over the target.
