RIPON City boss Charlie Brown will fly the flag for the region at the Senior’s World Cup which will start soon.

Brown flew out with the rest of the squad last week.

This will be the sixth year of the competition and the fourth that England have participated in.

It will be held in the Northern city of Chaiyaphum although the Veterans will first be based in Bangkok for a three day training camp.

This will include a warm up game against a Bangkok Veterans League X1 tomorrow as the players look to acclimatise to the intense heat and humidity.

This year the English team will face playing four group games in five days against, New Zealand, Vietnam, USA and a potential decider against Iran, who last year put paid to their hopes of retaining the title they won in 2009.

Manager Paul Bell has recruited a lot of additional experience with a group of players who have over 2000 professional league games between them .

These include Dave Regis (Stoke & Notts County), Danny O’Shea (Arsenal & Cambridge) Ex England U-20 keeper, Darren Heyes ( Notts Forest & Wrexham) Steve Charles ( Sheff Utd & Mansfield ).
