Letter: What a beautiful railway station in Knaresborough

Knaresborough Station
Knaresborough Station

What a beautiful station?

Last week my wife and I visited the Harrogate area on holiday. On one day we took the train from Knaresborough to York.

May I through your paper say what an architecturally beautiful station you have at Knaresborough?

It was so nice to find a station without modern plastic adornments.

No bus shelter style waiting areas. Congratulations must go to the lady I met tending the flowerbeds and making sure everything was neat and tidy.

I understand she is unpaid and spends her time ensuring that the character of the station is preserved.

Maybe Network Rail could let other offices as they have to the picture framers to bring more income to cover the upkeep?

With our art deco station here in Hastings being destroyed after years of neglect for a glass and metal sterile environment, it was a joy to behold the lovely station you have in the midst of your town. Long may it be maintained.
