The World of James Herriot welcomed its 500,000th visitor

Yvonne and Paul Edgar stopped off at the Thirsk attraction for the first time – as part of a six week holiday in the UK.

Yvonne and Paul - from Melbourne, Australia - are avid Herriot fans, having read all his books and enjoyed the films.

They were greeted at the centre by Alf Wight’s son and daughter, Jim and Rosie to be presented with flowers and champagne before taking a VIP tour of the museum.

The World of James Herriot was opened in 1999 as a tribute to worlds most famous vet turned author.
