Wing Commander Jeff Metcalfe has taken on the role of RAF Liaison Officer for Yorkshire and The Humber, working with York-based Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA).
Jeff, who’s originally from North Yorkshire, joins the RFCA with 37 years’ service as a reservist, which includes 13 years with the Full-Time Reserve Service based at RAF Leeming.
While a reservist he enjoyed a long career in banking which saw him managing branches of Lloyds TSB in Ripon, Wetherby and York.
In his role as RAF Liaison Officer, Jeff will be responsible for highlighting opportunities presented by the Reserve Forces and supporting businesses which employ reservists, as well as forging closer links between the RAF and the wider community.
He said: “I’m looking forward to furthering the interests of the Royal Air Force across Yorkshire and the Humber region in conjunction with RFCA, and raising the profile of the three main RAF Stations in the area, the two Auxilliary Squadrons, the University Air Squadrons and the Air Cadets.”
RFCA Chief Executive Colonel (Retd) Jason Wright said: “Jeff’s vast experience and specialist knowledge of the RAF will be extremely useful to us. We’re delighted he’s joining us.”
