A wedding dress party held at the Pavilions of Harrogate raised nearly £1,000 for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Dr Marjorie Boissinot, a Leeds cancer scientist funded by the charity, decided to hold the party after being told how lucky she was to be able to wear her wedding dress for two ceremonies – one in England and one in France.

Guests arrived in an array of wedding dresses and cocktail dresses, while men dressed in bow ties and one former groom even turned up in his ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’ outfit.

A raffle and tombola were held during the evening, along with a presentation of Kris d’Amour luxury skincare and aromatherapy products.

A percentage of sales, made on the night and during the week following the event, will be donated to Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Marjorie said: “Arriving at the Pavilions of Harrogate and seeing the title of our event on signposts and displayed at the entrance of the building gave us a great sense of pride.

Stepping inside the room decorated with the colours of the charity, thanks to Covered to Perfection and The Flower Room, was magical.

“The evening went wonderfully well and everybody had a great time.

Everybody made an effort to glam up. There was never a down time in the whole evening, nor an empty dance floor, and all the guests went home with lovely presents from the tombola and raffle.

“We would like to thank all our guests for making the event such a success and our family and friends for their generous donations.”

Majorie thanked sponsors Kris d’Amour, H2 Wedding Photography, The Flower Room, Covered to Perfection, Outrage Jewellery, Bettys and Taylors, Peter Maturi, David Lloyds, JAM HAIR and Boots.
