An elderly woman from Pateley Bridge is fighting for her life after a car crash near Wetherby

The driver of the car, a 79-year-old man, also from Pateley Bridge, is being treated in hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to thecollision, which took place at 1.30pm on Monday, June 8 on the Sandbeck approach near Wetherby Services.

A police statement read: “There were two vehicles involved in the collision, a white Chrysler and a blue BMW.

“The passenger in the Chrysler, a 77 year old woman from Pateley Bridge, sustained critical injuries in the collision and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where she remains in a critical condition.

“The driver of the Chrysler, a 79 year old man from Pateley Bridge, was also taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries.

“The driver of the BMW, a 61 year old man from the Durham area was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with minor injuries.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either of the vehicles prior to it is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
