Three sixth-formers from Thirsk School and Sixth Form College have raised over £400 for Macmillan Cancer Research by shaving their heads.

Will Hallam, and Eddy Simpson and Matthew Bojar, who are all Year 13 students, decided it was time they did something to help others and settled on the idea of raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Matthew said: “Several members of my family have been struck down with cancer in my lifetime and I want to do something to help those people and their families beat it.”

Brave the Shave is a nationwide campaign run by Macmillan Cancer Support which encourages people to shave their heads in return for sponsorship, inspired by the fact that many people with cancer will lose their hair during treatment.
