Stepping out in the fight against polio

MEMBERS of Harrogate Brigantes Rotary Club have raised £1,000 for polio research, through a charity walk.

Ten Rotarians tackled the 20-mile Harrogate Ringway Walk to raise money for the push to finally eradicate polio, completing the route in nine hours.

But it wasn’t all pain and strain. The group had time for morning coffee at RHS Harlow Carr and tea by the river at Knaresborough.

A spokesman for the Brigantes said: “For anyone who does not know the walk, it is worth considering and can be done in easy stages.

“The general view of those who tackled the Brigantes walk is that for however long you’ve lived in Harrogate you don’t know the town till you’ve walked the walk.”
