The ‘secrets’ of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal are set to be revealed in the finale of a new channel five series.
The TV programme, called Secrets of the National Trust and fronted by popular gardener and presenter Alan Titchmarsh, will delve into the Trust’s work to restore and take care of the historic site near Ripon.
The show will be aired next Tuesday (14 March) at 9pm and will guide viewers around the property, uncovering the hidden stories about the World Heritage Site.
The show’s host finds out about the lives of the monks who once inhabited Fountains Abbey with the help of National Trust archaeologist Mark Newman.
Mr Titchmarsh will also meet the landscape team and give them a helping hand with some of their daily tasks looking after the estate.
Viewers will gain a rare perspective of this fascinating place through the use of filming techniques such as drone cameras.
Daniel Dodd, National Trust communications and content director said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Channel 5 on this series.
“As an independent conservation charity our purpose is to look after the nation’s beautiful and historic places so that everyone can enjoy them. This series brings these places and our work to life.”
