Ripon Morris Dancers mark 30th year

Ripon City Morris Dancers are 30 years old this year.

To celebrate this special occasion, the group has held a special weekend of dance on Saturday, May 12 - Sunday, May 13 with special guest Island Thyme from Vancouver Island.

Also joining in the fun were the Betty Lupton’s Ladle Laikers from Harrogate who are marking their 35th anniversary.

Dancing took place outside Ripon Catherdral between 10.30am and 11.30am. They then travelled to Fountains Abbey to dance and enjoy lunch from 12.30pm.

The evening was seen in with a party at Bishop Minkton Village Hall. On Sunday the dancers then be performed near the castle in Knaresborough from 11am to 12.30pm and after lunch appeared in Harrogate’s Valley Gardens between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

The Canadian dancers Island Thyme had busy schedule while in England.

They were set to dance with the Flag & Bone Gang and Cricket on the Hearth at the Lamb Inn at Rainton on Sunday evening from 7.30pm, and danced in York on Monday, May 14 before travelling south for the rest of the week.
