NEXT month's production of Fiddler on the Roof by Ripon Amateur Operatic Society promises to be quite a family affair.
The show has been a sure fire hit with family audiences for many years and this is reflected in the cast. At the last count eleven families are represented, each fielding at least two members on stage or behind the scenes.
Fiddler on the Roof plays at Harrogate Theatre from March 28 to April 1 when brothers Harry and Charlie Hanson Hibbs will be joining together to swell the chorus.
Albert Day plays the butcher Lazar Wolfe whilst his wife Mary enjoys a ghostly appearance. Sheridan Page undertakes the dual role of wardrobe mistress and chorus member, whilst her grand-daughter Jess plays Bielke, the youngest daughter of Tevye. The leading role is played by Ron Ainsley
Society Chairman Judith Harding says, “Families have always played a great part in the Society productions. It always helps to create a happy atmosphere – something we are sure will reflect in the show which is, after all, about being part of family, be it a closely knit related one, or a wider community.”
Judith is a good example her self – her husband Ken is secretary of RAOS and will also be helping out backstage during the run.
Fiddler on the Roof plays from Tuesday, March 28 - Saturday, April 1, each evening at 7.30pm and also at 2.30pm on the Saturday.
