Ripon City Councillors have decided to write to Harrogate Borough Council asking that the mobile recycling scheme on the square be stopped,
At a council committee meeting on Monday, June 20 they agreed to write to the borough council’s environment officers asking them to end the scheme only a month into a planned three month trial and find another site.
The trial began on May 31 and involved a staffed mobile recycling centre visiting the Market Place for three hours on alternate Tuesday mornings.
The aim was to give nearby residents who do not have a kerbside collection service chance to recycle waste.
The market square was chosen after a similar successful scheme in Knaresborough’s market place.
