The Boroughbridge area Poppy Appeal this year raised more than £12,000.
Poppy Appeal co-ordinator for the area, Coun Geoff Craggs said to date the appeal has raised £12,755.57. He is still waiting for some wreath payments so the figure could yet go up.
The figure is an increase on last year’s total of £12,166.51.
“On behalf of the Boroughbridge Branch and the Poppy Appeal, our grateful thanks to everyone who gave so generously to this most deserving of charities,” he said.
“And to all those good souls who sold poppies at Morrisons, door to door in all weathers and allowed collecting boxes to be placed in their business premises.
“Also of course to the churches who donated their collections and all who bought wreaths and gave anonymous donations. Thank you all, and well done.”
