Pop Art never goes out of fashion

POP Art images of famous faces from the worlds of film, music and TV will be on display at Harrogate's Anstey Galleries throughout May.

Audrey Hepburn, Barbara Streisand, Michael Caine and Figo are some of the iconic faces depicted by pop artist Mark Hughes in his latest exhibition.

One of the UK’s hottest pop artists, Mark first explored this style of painting in 1997 on receiving regular commissions from private clients. As a self-taught artist, he took his first steps into the public eye by showing his work on London’s Bayswater Road each Sunday before the attention and commissions from galleries took him into the next phase.

Mark has sold to a number of celebrities and his paintings now hang in some of London’s finest homes and have graced the pages of Vogue, Tatler and GQ.

Anstey Galleries director Katie Bainbridge says: “Mark embraces the true essence of Pop Art, with the impact of each of his paintings being emotional as much as visual. He draws on responses triggered by nostalgia, colour and technical perfection.”

l The exhibition runs from Friday, May 5, until Sunday, June 4. Opening times are Wednesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. For details please call 01423 500102, email contact@ansteygalleries.co.uk or visit www.ansteygalleries.co.uk.
