Thirsk skatepark will be opened this weekend, July 21.

The £157,000 skatepark was due to be opened at the beginning of the month but had to be postponed due to the weather.

The opening of ‘Thirsk8 Park’ will now take place at 1pm on Saturday, followed by a Skate Jam organised by Popcorn of Northallerton.

The park - in Gravel Hole Lane, Sowerby - is based on the ideas of young people. Their original outline drawings were used to create the park, which is built out of spray in-situ concrete - low maintenance, low noise and produces a smooth surface ideal for skateboards, scooters or BMXs.
