Police raid finds drugs

THE following were dealt with by Harrogate magistrates on March 3

Mark Andrew Barnett, 40, of The Old Post Office, Kettlesing, was fined 300 with 45 costs and seven penalty points for driving without insurance.

Walter Leathley, 66, of 55 Lickley Street, Ripon, was fined 100 with 60 costs and five penalty points for careless driving.

Lee Patrick Mulvaney, 40, of 3 Cheapside, Knaresborough, was made subject to a nine-month community order with treatment for drug dependency and probation appointments for possession of heroin and failing to answer bail. Costs of 45 were also imposed.

THE following were dealt with by Harrogate magistrates on March 4:

Derek Andrew Thomas Ainslie, 24, of 58 Franklin Road, Harrogate, was made subject to a one-year community order with 50 hours of unpaid work and 43 costs for possession of cannabis.

Angela Jayne Palmer, 31, of 7 Bower Street, Harrogate, was conditionally discharged for 18 months with 43 costs for theft. A suspended sentence order imposed last November was not implemented but the court added two years to the suspension period.

James Edward Verity, 59, of 98 Fairfax Avenue, Harrogate, was fined 100 with 43 costs and a 12-month ban for drink-driving.

Steven Daniel Jennings, 30, of the Black Swan public house, Skipton Road, Harrogate, was conditionally discharged for a year with 60 costs for assault.

Kevin Thomas Kingston, 34, of 4 Over Nidd, Harrogate, was fined 500 with 250 costs for assault.

David William McGhie, 19, of no fixed address, was conditionally discharged for a year with 60 costs for theft.

David Marcus Holliday, 42, of The Hollies, Hudswell Lane, Richmond, was fined 450 with 45 costs and an 18-month ban for failing to provide a breath specimen.

Duane William Campbell, 39, of 3a Scargill Road, Harrogate, was made subject to a one-year community order with probation appointments and 120 hours of unpaid work for threatening behaviour provoking fear of violence. Costs of 45 were also imposed.

Daniel Nathan Townend, 19, of 10 Scargill Road, Harrogate, was made subject to a one-year community order with probation appointments and 100 hours of unpaid work for theft and criminal damage. Compensation of 155 was also ordered.

John Steven Brennan, 25, of 13 Parliament Terrace, Harrogate, was fined 300 with 43 costs and a two-year ban for drink-driving. He was fined 200 for careless driving.

lAll those convicted on an offence for which a fine is levied have to pay a 15 surcharge which goes into a fund set up to aid victims of crime.
