As the 2014 Tour de France excitement builds in Yorkshire, there’s an opportunity to see another – equally thrilling – cycling sport when Cyclo-Cross comes to Pateley Bridge on Sunday.
On Sunday 16th June, Nidderdale High School will host Round 5 of the Yorkshire Cyclo-Cross Association Summer Series.
One of the organisers is 15-year-old NHS student Bobbin Gardner who is one of the young stars of the cyclo-cross circuit.
As the race is held within the School grounds (with the kind co-operation of Harrogate Borough Council) there will be ample opportunity for spectators to witness all the action from this high-octane sport.
Two races will be held at 11:15 am and at 12:00 noon; prospective participants can enter via the YCCA website at
Entrance for spectators is free, and Nidderdale High School PFTA will be providing refreshments.
If the idea of thrashing your bike around a field appeals, there’s an opportunity to try out this sport for yourself.
After the main racing is over, a smaller course will be set up for beginners to have a go and experience this amazing sport for themselves, with several different classes and prizes on offer.
The entrance fee for the have-a-go event is £2.00 if paid in advance at the High School, or £2.50 if you register on the day – but don’t forget to bring your bike.
