Hambleton’s new fleet of refuse trucks have taken to the road sporting a brand new banner urging people to crackdown on dog fouling.

The new trucks, which replaced five of the district council’s ageing fleet of trucks, took to the streets last week.

Young footballers from Brompton Junior Football Club posed for the campaign with the message: “Don’t turn your back on dog fouling – bag it and bin it.”

Cabinet spokesperson, Councillor Stephen Watson, said: “These new vehicles are fitted with the most up to date technology for our waste collectors as well as being a great way of advertising our services and campaigns

“The dog fouling message is a vital one – we will take action if we see this happening. No one wants an £50 on the spot fine when all it takes to avoid it is to clean up after your pets.

“We urge everyone to bag it and bin it.”

Anyone wishing to report incidents of dog fouling can call the council on 01609 779977.
