Business for Thirsk-based Todd Waste Management has resumed following the fire that tore through three of its buildings on Thirsk Industrial Park on Tuesday, May 3.
The company is using its other business operations in Malton and York to meet demand while it works closely with the Environment Agency to remove the burned waste and re-open the Thirsk site and begin accepting waste materials.
While the cause of the fire is still unknown, the fire service declared the site safe on Saturday, May 7.
Gerard Bannigan, operations manager for F D Todd and Son, said: “We would like to thank all our customers and the local community for their patience whilst this serious matter has been brought under control.
“The events of the last week have been testing for all of our team who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the incident was properly managed.
“We would like to continue to re-assure the local community in Thirsk that the type of re-cycling material involved in the fire was non-hazardous and non-toxic and our site is fully secure and safe.
“Whilst the fire was significant, we have put our business recovery plans into action and have worked hard to get the business back to operating normally as quickly as possible.”
