A MAN has been charged after a 62-year-old man was stabbed four times in his own home.

David Dempsey, 42, of Kermishaw Nook, Tyldesley has been charged with attempted murder, robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was due before Wigan Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday).

The attack happened at around 5.30pm on August 25 at the house on Diamond Street, Leigh.

A man forced his way into the house, stabbed the victim four times and stole his wallet.

Detective Chief Inspector Howard Millington said: “During this investigation we have received a lot of information from the public, who we would like to thank for their help.”

A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but was later released without charge.
