Ripon Fire Station has said farewell to its longest serving firefighter Howard Marshall, 55, who has been an on-call firefighter at the station for 32 years.

He was presented with a gold fireman’s axe and other gifts by watch manager Clive Haynes during a leaving function at Mario’s Restaurant on Kirkgate.

Howard’s said:“I’m proud to have served my city for so many years but it’s now time to pass the baton on to a younger generation.”
