Harrogate and District CCG are warning patients to be aware of a cruel hoax email which suggests a person has been diagnosed with cancer.
Emails suggesting a cancer diagnosis following blood testing by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) may have been sent to patients in the Harrogate and rural district area.
It has been confirmed that the email has not been sent by NICE and NICE is taking the relevant steps to stop the email and to reassure patients.
A spokesman for the CCG said: “On the rare occasion issues like this occur we will proactively share the information with patients and the public.”
Any patients who have received the email are advised to delete it and not open any attachments or links contained within it.
