Several families of Rossett Acre Infant and Junior School have signed up for Harrogate Rotary Club’s Nidderdale Charity Walk.

They will be walking to raise funds for Rossett Acre PTA and Meningitis Now.

The Sunday, May 18 event offers walkers six routes, ranging from a four mile family walk to a four mile special walk designed for the disabled up to the full 26 mile marathon walk challenge.

All walks will start at Pateley Bridge apart from the Special Walk.

Registration starts at 7.45am for all walks.

Participating walkers will be able to access an official entry form, view maps and find out more about entry fees for their selected walk from the walk website www.nidderdalewalk.com

There is an ‘eye spy’ game to play along the route with drinks, biscuits, sweets and stickers for those taking part. A certificate will be awarded to each participant who finishes the walk.

The Family Walk is suitable for all families with children in the 4-12 age group. It is also suitable for anyone who might find the longer walks too difficult.

The Family Walk is not suitable for pushchairs because of stiles. However the four mile walk, starting from Scar House Dam, has surfaced roads suitable for pushchairs.

In March, Sir Thomas Ingilby became the first person to sign up for the 26-mile Marathon walk.
