History student Charlotte Wilkinson has gone back to her studies for a rest.
Twenty-year-old Charlotte, from Northallerton, spent the summer searching through the archives at the World of James Herriot to help create an ‘online’ collection.
The Thirsk tourist attraction has thousands of documents relating to the centre, too many to be exhibited.
They include manuscripts from the television series All Creatures Great and Small, illustrations from the Herriot children’s books and legal documents including the deeds for the Kirkgate surgery.
“Due to limited space in the museum many of these documents will never be seen,” said centre manager Phil Bustard.
“But they are an important part of the James Herriot story. Charlotte has begun the long task of cataloguing them into an online archive and we hope in time that web users will be able to access our complete collection through photographs and information. It will open up the museum to an even greater and worldwide audience.”
Charlotte hopes to continue her work during her holidays.
