Richmondshire’s summer holiday camp celebrated its second birthday with record numbers a glowing Ofsted report. The ‘Burst Camp’ scheme, part of the Burst activity scheme run by Richmondshire Leisure Trust, underwent a random spot inspection in line with the policy of improving standards of provision for children.

All aspects of the camp received positive feedback on the quality of care provided.

The camp has this year also expanded into Catterick, Askrigg and Colburn. More than 350 children packed into the activities ranging from archery and fencing days to golf, gymnastics and dance.

“The Burst Holiday activity programme has grown significantly over the last couple of years, providing an affordable, high quality service to the communities within Richmondshire,” said Matt Prosser, Leisure Trust Sports Development Co-ordinator.

“The service works closely with key community partners including the Army Welfare Service, North Yorkshire Council Children Centres and Richmondshire District Council. It is through partnership work that this scheme has got to where it is today.”
