FUTURE Olympians will be putting budding water polo players to the test in Northallerton next month.
Members of the mens and womens GB water polo squad will be taking a free taster session at Hambleton Leisure centre.
Water Polo is one of the oldest Olympic team sports having been introduced over 100 years ago.
The session on Saturday, January 7, is open to nine to 16 year olds who have passed stage seven of the swimming lesson programme.
It is hoped that by raising interest in the sport the leisure centre will be able to set up its own club.
The event will consist of stations to teach basic skills and tricks of the sport and then a mini game with the players at the end. Afterwards the children and parents will have time to talk to and question members of the squad.
The session takes place from 3.30 to 4.30pm in the pool and 4.30 to 5.15pm in the sports hall.
Everyone taking part will receive a voucher entitling them to 10% off if they join the weekly water polo club.
Places are limited call 01609 777070 to book.
