Vandals damage 20 cars in town

Police are urging motorists in Masham to check their vehicles after thieves admitting striking 20 cars around the town.

Three men from Masham and the surrounding villages have been arrested and admitted stealing make and model badges from around 20 VW Golf and Peugeot 106 cars or similar, but so far police have only traced nine of the cars.

Now they are appealing for drivers to check their vehicles for missing badges and damage.

PC Gareth Jones of Ripon Police station said:

“It is possible that members of the public may not be aware that the badges have been stolen.”

The thefts took place around Masham on or around Monday, August 8 and Tuesday, August 9.

Anyone who believes they might have been victims of the thefts should contact PC Gareth Jones at Mashamshire Community Office or PC Dave Furlong at Ripon Police Station on 0845 60 60 247.
