Three men threatened the residents of a Pannal home before stealing cash and jewellery during a raid on Friday evening.

One occupant of the Brakenthwaite Lane property was injured when three men, who were wearing dark clothes and had their faces covered, broke in.

North Yorkshire Police were called to the scene at 9.20pm on Friday, February 6.

Detective Inspector Nichola Holden, of Harrogate CID, said: “Fortunately the victims were not seriously injured in this incident, however they are understandably shaken by what has happened to them.

“I am appealing to the public to help us identify the people responsible and I urge anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area around the time of the incident to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Brakenthwaite Lane area over the past few weeks to get in touch.”

Police said the investigation is at a very early stage and any possible links with previous incidents of this nature will be part of the extensive police enquiries into the burglary.

The force is currently investigating a separate incident in which an elderly couple were tied up by masked raiders who stole jewellery and cash from their South Park Road home in January.

DI Holden added: “I would like to reassure the public that every effort is being made to identify the people responsible for this incident and bring them to justice.”
