Wheels for lorries valued at £13,000 have been stolen from a dealership in Roecliffe near Boroughbridge.

Between 8.10pm on Sunday, October 26 and 4.30am on Monday, October 27, the suspects – who are believed to have been travelling in a white, Ford Transit van – parked their vehicle on Claypit Lane.

They then used tools to break through a perimeter fence of the Renault dealership, Thompson Commercials, on Barr Lane.

After entering the premises, they stole 18 alloy wheels and four steel wheels from brand new lorries. The wheels’ sizes are 295/80/22.5 and all are believed to be Continental brand tyres.

The suspects also caused considerable damage to the fence and around £20,000 worth of damage to the vehicles from which the wheels were stolen, which were left on their axles.

PC Neil Roworth, of Boroughbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This theft has cost the business a considerable amount of money and inconvenience and I am appealing to anyone who has any information, particularly those in the haulage and motor trade industry, who may have been offered the wheels for sale to contact the police without delay.”
