A car smashed into a house in Harrogate before being setting ablaze last weekend.

The bizarre incident occurred just hours after the car’s owner was assaulted in the street and detectives are now appealing for witnesses.

At sometime during the late evening of Friday June 6 and the early hours of Saturday June 7, an Audi was crashed through a garden fence and into a house on The Parade, before being set on fire.

Before the crash the owner of the vehicle, a man in his 40s, reported being assaulted on Cold Bath Road near Sainsbury’s. The victim was wearing a dark pink polo shirt and black jeans.

Officers would like to anyone who saw him or two men who were also seen in the area at around 11.30pm on June 6.

Police have little information about either incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward and help the investigation.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Detective Constable Fiona Ayre or Harrogate CID.
