A DEVELOPER'S doodles of a stunning all-glass American skyscraper has inspired a scaled down pyramid style office block in Harrogate.
Engineer Chris Bentley jotted down his images of a San Francisco 50-storey giant on a piece of scrap paper during a visit to the States.
And his dream office project – dubbed The Pyramid but officially known as The Inspire – is now nearing completion.
With its pyramid pinnacle just put in place, the new building at Hornbeam Business Park is on course for occupation within four months.
Mr Bentley, managing director of Hornbeam Park Developments Ltd, said: "My aim is that The Inspire will not only be the focal point for the business park but for Harrogate. I wanted a wow factor for the area and I think I've got one."
He has novel ideas of how to promote the building and says his ultimate aim is to make it more famous than Gateshead's Angel of the North.
Although the new development has yet to find a taker, Mr Bentley is hopeful one will emerge once the shell is completed by Christmas.
"It has created quite a lot of interest but now it is taking shape I think it will encourage even more," he says.
The five-storey building's roof terrace will be enclosed by glass and the project will cover 1.2 acres, featuring a large lawned area at ground level.
The Inspire is said to offer an exceptional opportunity for firms looking for a distinctive headquarters.
