Landmark year for law firm

For Harrogate firm Jarvis Family Law, September has marked the conclusion of a landmark 12 months during which it has rebranded, doubled in size and moved to new offices.

Founded in October 2010 after Angela Moores and Jackie Nicholson took over the reins of Anne Jarvis’s company following her retirement last summer, the plan was to build on the reputation Anne had developed for her advice in family law during her 20 years in Harrogate.

“The business has almost taken on a will of its own and has developed so quickly that it’s hardly recognisable as the firm it was a year ago,” said managing partner Jackie.

“We now have a ten-strong workforce and have moved to our new location at Mitre House on North Park Road – and all without having to increase our fees.”

A challenging three-year strategy is on track – but that means the business has moved on dramatically.

“We wanted to keep the Jarvis name in the new business, both in recognition of Anne’s work in the past and because Anne’s business is now incorporated into the new firm of Jarvis Family Law,” added Jackie.

“Of course, negotiating divorce settlements or dealing with complex family issues are not things to celebrate; most of us marry determined to do all we can to ensure the relationship lasts.

“We recognise seeing a family solicitor can be very difficult but our objective is to make this as positive, productive and focused as possible and I suppose that has been the key factor in our success in attracting new clients.”

Specialist family solicitor Neil Dring joined the firm in June, bringing with him 25 years of experience, and Jarvis Family Law has plans to recruit another solicitor in 2012.
